Hello! I am Katy Gilberts, I love teaching — and I love my students.

Musikgarten is a curriculum that does not compromise quality or fun. And I have high expectations, as a serious musician for many years, starting with piano lessons at age seven.

My musical background includes:

University

B.A. in Music (Piano) from Northwest Nazarene University (NNU) in Nampa, Idaho
Solo recital as well as many piano department recitals
Piano accompanist for NNU junior and senior voice majors
Vocal performer in solo recitals and a select traveling choir
Private piano teacher to elementary-age students during university years and after;

Pre-university

First runner-up in Grays Harbor County's Miss America Scholarship Pageant
Twelve years piano lessons by high schoool graduation (classical, jazz and popular)
Three years electric piano and one saxophone in high school jazz ensemble
Performed in ensembles with all saxophones,
oboe, flute, alto clarinet
Taught alto saxophone in high school
Student conductor

Katy Gilberts and Friends I know music top to bottom and a great deal about early childhood development. I am proud to teach Musikgarten curricula.

Musikgarten's foundation is what children love naturally — music and movement and play. I look forward to my classes for the enjoyment I have!

Of note, any child can learn music. Before age nine, it is much easier and learning music at this age paves the way for musical literacy, a key that unlocks the door to the musical world.
